HF / LVAD Update

From Dr Yip:

Hi all,

We have been looking to secure some LVAD supportive equipment in the HF clinic. We had previously co-managed LVAD patients with London and Toronto. In recent years we have not had a patient, but these patients can be transferred to us at any time. From previous experience, they come and we have no resources to manage them.

We're lucky enough to have secured some donor funding as well as support from the Cardiac program to purchase batteries and interrogation equipment for HeartMate III. They are set to arrive early next week, and we have a training session scheduled for Tuesday September 23.

We'll be in the Conestoga room (small room in the basement cafeteria) from 11 am – 2 pm. Drop in anytime. They'll be focused on orientating the HF clinic RN and NPs, but MDs and NPs from the ward are also welcome to come see and stay to do a few modules if you have time. It'll be run by Abbott.

Hope to see some of you there.

β€” Amelia
